The Honda's original oil is actually very affordable, and pretty safe option. the 4 liter canister costs 55€ at my local dealer, and most of quality oils here like Castrol or Shell is also around 50€ / can. I run 10 w 40 on my 600, they also have 10 w 30 Honda oil that I run on dirt bikes at winter.
The fork oil does not wear out ever. Fork oil is a repair item ie your springs or seals have failed (or you want to modify) and you need to replace oil when you replace the seals/springs. Basically check front forks for any fluid leaks around the seal dust caps. Front fork oil is not a maintenance item.
As long as your engine oil is up to level, your transmission is okay too! Get yourself a manual. The transmission fluid check section is in the maintenance section along with how to check the blinker fluid :twisted: Welcome.

In many cases a 15w.. oil has thicker base oils and less viscosity improver (which can degenerate), thus better longevity in harsh condition, and they can take more beating.

Honda specifies a 4,000 mile oil change interval for the air cooled, non-filtered, 250. By comparison, Kawasaki calls for a 3,000 mile interval on their water cooled, oil filtered, VN750 Vulcan. IIRC, both redline at about the same rpms. There are parallels between a lawn mower engine and the 250.
